Habitat and species management
At Black Sheep, we have over 20 years of habitat and species conservation management experience. This affords us the luxury of being able to assess the success of different techniques over a relatively long period, allowing us to develop an impressive toolkit.

As many of our clients farm the downland landscapes of Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight, we have a particular love of chalk grassland and have been involved in the creation and restoration of hundreds of acres of this species-rich habitat. In addition, we have experience in the management of meadows, lowland heath, parkland, woodland, hedgerows, ponds, field margins, and arable habitats.

In terms of species, we are particularly known for our work with farmland birds, though we have undertaken surveys and habitat enhancement work for a whole range of species from bats, butterflies and brown hares, to grasshoppers and great crested newts.
